  • Description: (Tape 1) Smiling Tokyo residents look at the Royal Yacht HMY Britannia at the quayside. Shots from quay of HMS Illustrious and HMS Richmond arriving in Tokyo. Press conference on board Illustrious describes the goodwill purpose of the visit and the aim of the Ocean Wave deployment. General views of flight deck and shots of the Royal Yacht HMY Britannia as she sails away. Crewmen go sightseeing in Tokyo, visiting the Imperial Gardens and taking a river boat trip through the city. (Tape 2) Crews from HMS Illustrious and HMS Richmond continue river boat trip. Visit to shrine at Akasuka, after which ratings are interviewed: Lieutenant Athos Risperris, Naval Airman Neil Reynolds (Richmond), Naval Airman Brian Stephens (Illustrious) and Naval Airman Simon Silcocks (Richmond). Scenes in city centre, including visits around shopping streets. Interviews with members of Illustrious's crew, with the ship in the background: Naval Airman Robert John Williams, Naval Airman Jamie Rees and Naval Airman (?) Dale Bickford. (Tape 3) Interview with Captain Stephen Meyer, CO of "Illustrious". Farewell ceremony in Tokyo as HMS Richmond sets off from Japan, en route to Vladivostok. Views of onboard life and routine, also general views (including extended shots of ship's wake). Arrival in Vladivostok on misty day - ceremonial party salutes as Richmond docks. (Tape 4) Further coverage of the ceremony heralding HMS Richmond's arrival in Vladivostok, Russia. Captain meets with senior Russian Navy officers (conversing through interpreters). Wreathlaying at the War Memorial and Submarine Museum. Civilians visit HMS Richmond and are greeted by the crew. Scenes from a concert by the Pacific Fleet Ensemble. (Tape 5) Russian Navy rating from HMS Richmond in Vladivostok, Russia. Crewmen visit Vladivostok train station and canal (?). General views over Vladivostok in the rain. Interviews with Commander Elliot Seatherton (Captain of HMS Richmond) and Admiral Sir Peter Abbot (Commander-in-Chief Fleet). Final farewell ceremonies (Russian frigate Admiral Winogradov anchored nearby). Richmond sails out (camera position is on the shore).
