Summary:
Description: From high ground overlooking the Orne at Goupillieres, the camera sweeps over a picturesque countryside, consisting of a patchwork of fields bounded by hedges and clumps of trees straddling both sides of the Orne valley rising sharply towards the Fôret de Grimbosq in the east. Concealed from view are German troop positions covering the left flank of the 1st SS Panzer Korps presently facing the bulk of the 1st Canadian Army south of Caen. The 7th Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment rides to Goupillieres on Churchill tanks belonging to the 107th RAC along a congested, hedgerow-bordered lane typical of the second-class roads through the 'bocage' region of Normandy.
