Summary: Action at El Alamein.
Description: 5 July 1942. 25 pounders of the 4th Royal Horse Artillery (RHA) of the Mobile Column give support to a night tank attack on the enemy's south flank near El Alamein. Wireless vehicle at Battle Headquarters. A wireless signal operator sends a Morse message. Lieutenants Tor and Flowers, Major Lomass and Captain Martin receive instruction orders from the Brigade. Wireless operator sends report back of enemy's position. Bofors guns go into action, one reaches its target.
9 July 1942. At 03.30 hours, the 9th Australian Division, 24th Brigade makes an attack along the sand dunes westwards from Alamein Box. The 68th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery support with 4.5 guns. Stukas dive bombing into forward positions and gun emplacements. One hundred Italian prisoners, the first taken by Australians in the campaign. Spitfires returning from attacking enemy positions.
