Film Number:A70 61-2
Summary: A Sherman tank squadron prepares for action on 3rd Division's front north of Caen.
Description: Shermans and Fireflies belonging to the East Riding Yeomanry's 'C' Squadron are seen assembled in their harbour between Cambes and Anisy. A tank commander speaks to his driver down his intercom microphone. Major Holtby, the Squadron commanding officer, briefs two of his troop leaders on their forthcoming action with the 9th Infantry Brigade which will take the form of a feint attack on La Bijude. Shermans from the Squadron - one tank carrying a Browning .50 calibre machine gun on its turret hatch ring - move up to the front along a tank track bulldozed across the railway line which used to carry rail traffic from Caen to towns and villages situated on the Calvados coast.
