Other titles:BRITAIN'S ATOMIC WEAPONS RESEARCH PROGRAMME COLLECTION [Allocated Series Title]
Summary: Footage filmed by the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, showing the impact on Foulness Island of the severe flooding of the area in February 1953. Houses, farms and other installations are seen surrounded and partially submerged by the floodwaters. The floods caused damage to the facilities at AWRE Foulness, including the building constructed for the assembly of Britain's first atomic weapons device which was detonated at Monte Bello in Australia in October 1952 in Operation Hurricane.
