Description:Motor torpedo boats of the Royal Danish Navy patrol the channels leading in to the Baltic Sea. Denmark, as an archipelago, possesses a heritage of sea navigation, which improves its navy's capability. Danish transport is heavily reliant upon ferries, for travelling between the country's many islands. The port of Svendborg is shown. Boats of the Falck Rescue Corp are shown responding to a fire on a boat and serving as a floating library. On Skarø, a woman goes in to labour and a Falck boat is summoned to assist with her transportation.
At the school serving the SHAPE village near Rocquencourt, France, children of the fourteen member nations of NATO study alongside local French children. The personnel working at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) - service and civilian - are briefly characterised. In lessons primarily delivered in French, children aged four to eleven study together, helping to engender the mutual understanding the adults at SHAPE strive towards. Children from across the alliance are briefly introduced in demonstrating the school's international character.
After a brief introduction to Ankara and the Turkey of Atatürk, the film moves to Balikesir airbase, where pilots are undergoing training in F-84 Thunderjets. Pilots receive lessons in jet flight and English, while ground crews receive instruction from a civilian engineer from the United States. The pilots are then shown taking part in a bombing exercise, as observed by officers from the United States of and America, developing their skills "to defend the freedom of all."
