Summary:
Description:(A Reel) The arrival of various NATO military aircraft at Karup Aerodrome, followed by troops unloading equipment and vehicles from Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Air Force Hercules transport aircraft. Participating troops at the aerodrome include the Canadian Guard and Italian Alpini personnel. British Army troops service a pair of Agusta-Bell Sioux Helicopters.
Once the exercise is underway, troops carry out manoeuvres through forests and along main roads (signposted for Møn and Vordingborg). British troops carry out a patrol through a suburban area and are later dropped into a combat scenario by an RAF ("Huey") helicopter. They exchange fire with troops from a number of the other participating nations.
Luxembourgish officers discuss strategy at a temporary headquarters, Canadian Guard troops are held by the Danish Home Guard, and the King of Denmark inspects troops in a wooded area. British Army personnel in Ferret armoured cars, Italian troops position their artillery and a tank undertakes manoeuvres, before firing its turret gun. The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Goodpaster meets with military officials.
(B Reel) A record of Canadian forces during the 'Green Express' exercise. Including the departure of troops and equipment from the Canadian Forces Base, Uplands, located in Ottawa, Ontario. Military trucks are loaded into Royal Canadian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft, followed by troops loading into a separate air transport. Of the troops on exercise, the Canadian Guard can be identified, and military signage at the beginning of the film suggests the following were also involved: "2nd Battalion, Canadian Guards", "2 Combat Group" and troops from the military base at Petawawa.
(C Reel) Rushes of NATO Air Defence Ground Environment system (NADGE) installations, presumably in Germany.
