Summary: Army film made on the orders of the Chief of the Imperial General Staff (CIGS), Sir Gerald Templer, reporting on a demonstration at the CIGS conference held at the Staff College, Camberley in 1957. The demonstration was a result of a series of experiments by the 1st Infantry Division, aimed at enhancing the mobility of infantry without the use of motorised vehicles, and centres around the use of two-wheeled trollies as a means of carrying equipment. Soldiers demonstrate the carrying capacity of the trollies, the crossing of obstacles such as fences and ditches, and the crossing of water obstacles. With the addition of flotation bags and waterproofed sides, a trolley can be used as an improvised boat for up to four soldiers, using entrenching tools as paddles. Other innovations include igloo tents for use as signal stations or command posts, and new webbing equipment.
