Description: (Reel 1) Movement without fire cover will lead to disaster and fire cover without movement is wasteful; learning how to shoot at targets on a range; advanced handling out in the field including use of the Bren gun; taking up position quickly with the Bren helped by a colleague; fire effects like getting above your enemy eg. a tree; stressing importance of teamwork eg. climbing onto a roof with a lookout; procedure of shooting from the upper windows of a house ie. staying well back; shooting from haystacks; use of fire to signal to the rest of the unit; theory of small arms especially Bren using diagram to illustrate Beaten Zone, Dangerous Area and Dangerous Zone with variances for type of ground. (Reel 2) Use of fire to kill - but be patient, waiting until enemy are within range; use of fire to locate enemy; use of fire to neutralise area via element of surprise; use of fire to prevent German movement in smoke cover. (Reel 3) Use of fire to cover movement. Diagrammatic representation with Nazi symbol for enemy, how to change position in uncovered ground; how camouflage blends into background; units covering one another eg Bren group covers rifle group and vice versa until unit is safe but Bren magazine must be changed before moving off; use of fire to shatter enemy morale - flak from behind can fool the enemy into thinking he is surrounded (CU of sniper smiling from between two branches of a tree in a "V" shape after he has hit enemy); importance of keeping the fire initiative illustrated by a dramatised sequence culminating in the death of a German machine gun operator; many messages flashed across screen at end eg. You must win that fight; the side that loses the fire initiative is beaten.
